To drive legally in Barbados as a visitor, you’ll need to obtain a Barbados driver’s permit by presenting a valid National or International Driver’s License. The permit costs US$5 for 2 months or US$50 for 1 year, and can be issued by authorized car rental companies. Important to note: Barbadians drive on the left side of the road, similar to the UK. If you’re from North America, take extra care while adjusting to the difference.

Barbados operates on 110 volts/50 Hz, which is the same as in North America. If you’re traveling from the U.S. or Canada, your electrical equipment should work without an adapter. Getting around Barbados without a car is easy and affordable, thanks to a well-established public transportation system and privately operated buses and vans.
