• Beach

Where is your hotel in relation to the beach?

The hotel is literally across the street from one of the islands most scenic stretches of sand – Rockley aka Accra Beach.

• Distance from airport

How far away is the hotel from the airport?

The Blue Horizon Hotel is approximately 7 1/2 miles (12 km) – or a scenic ride of about 15 minutes – away from the airport.  

• Driving in Barbados

What do I have to do to be able to drive legally in Barbados? 

As a visitor, you can secure a Barbados driver’s permit on producing a valid National or International License at a cost of US$5 for a 2-month permit and US$50 for a 1-year permit. All authorised car rental companies can issue the appropriate license.   

Like the English, Barbadians drive on the left. Visitors from North America must therefore exercise extreme caution while getting used to driving on the other side. 

• Electricity

Will I be able to use my electrical equipment?  

Electricity in Barbados is 110 volts/50 cycles.  

• Transportation

How easy is it to get around the island without a car?

There is a well established public transportation system as well as privately operated buses and vans.    The hotel is ideally situated to take advantage of the various modes of transportation and there are bus stops conveniently located outside of the hotel.  The fare is BDS$3.50 or US$1.75.

• Laundry

I will be there for an extended period, and I am concerned about laundry.  What are my options?

Self-service laundry facilities are available at a nominal fee.  Arrangements can also be made for laundry to be done externally and returned on the same day. 

• Large Family

I have a large family and we wish to stay together.

 We can offer you a suite which connects to a studio (superior room).   The suite is furnished with a king bed and queen pull-out couch and studio would add an additional queen bed.       

• Baby Sitting

Are there in-house baby-sitting facilities?

The hotel maintains relationships with trust-worthy babysitters with whom arrangements can be made with 24-hours’ notice.  

• Cancellation

Will I be penalized for cancelling a booking?

Two nights’ deposit is required upon booking.  If the booking is cancelled within 7 days of arrival, one night’s accommodation will be charged and if the guest should “no-shows” on the date of arrival, a penalty of two nights’ accommodation will apply.
